Over the weekend our friends at the premier arcade destination in Chicago, Galloping Ghost Arcade, had a few small tournaments for Mortal Kombat 2, Killer Instinct and Super Street Fighter IV. A surprise guest, none other than Shang Tsung himself, Dr. Philip Ahn M.D., showed up to visit some fans. Here is a picture we took of him posing next to the Mortal Kombat 2 cabinet:

Among the chaos I got a few minutes to talk to him and pick up a bit of history on his involvement in Mortal Kombat 2. He told me how he got the role when his friend and former training partner Ho Sung Pak (Liu Kang) introduced him to Ed Boon while touring the game studio. Ed liked his look and asked him to be in the game as the younger version of Shang Tsung. The filming of his role of Shang Tsung was less than five hours long. He also joked that he can actually not grow a goatee like Shang Tsung, the one they used for filming in-game was all makeup. Also if any of you were wondering what type of doctor he is, he said he's a Family Practitioner in Chicagoland. Imagine having him as your doctor, would he look like someone else each time you went to see him?

June 19, 2009 - Hoping for another Teen rated Mortal Kombat game? Yeah, me neither. And it looks like the development team agrees.

Longtime series creator Ed Boon has made known new information regarding his upcoming title, tentatively being called Mortal Kombat 9.

"U r absolutely right. People want an M-rated MK....dammit we will give them an M-rated MK," he wrote in response to a reader on his twitter feed.

He also discussed a bit about how the game's new fatalities will look, suggesting perhaps they'll be extremely violent.

"Motion capturing special moves & fatalities today....they are kind of sick !!," he wrote. "

Carlos & Rick O. doin some kool fatalities. I hope we aren't taking these too far. :("

Boon also confirmed the game will no longer contain any super heroes, and that in no way would this be an AO rated game.

We reached out to Boon to comment and perhaps spill some more details, but he told IGN we'll have to wait before new information can be revealed. But hey, at least this confirms the twitter account is actually Ed's and not some faker.

There are a few guys like myself that loved the interesting story of Assassin's Creed, and due to that fact there are many guys who love to gather around hints and clues to piece them together to see what could be on the next installment to Assassins Creed. Most of them gather on the official Assassin's Creed forums. Earlier today, Destinrl posted a list of things that will feature on Assassin's Creed 2 on the official Assassin's Creed forum. According to the member, the details are straight from GameInformer, so they should be reliable - haven't read it myself though. Here is the whole list the member of the forum wrote, and he warns on some spoilers, so read at your own discretion:

- You'll have a ton of new weapons to choose from including an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, 2 different sword types, a spear axe thing, and 2 smaller blades
- You CAN swim
- Da Vincis workshop is in the game
- Locations include Saint Marks Basilica, The Grand Canal, The Little Canal, and the Rialto bridge.
- The game opens in 1476, Altair is from 1191
- So you do indeed play as a new ancestor of Altair / Desmond
-You will see the countryside of Tuscany
- The "Auditore" family is mentioned
- The main characters name is Ezio Auditore de Firenze
- He is a nobleman of Florence
- Big characters are in the game including Machiavelli, Caterina Sofrza, and Lorenzo de Medici
- YOU DO INDEED FLY AND THERES A PICTURE OF IT.
and thats just what I got from the pictures. I'll let you know more details as I read more.
- Game will feature a new notoriety system that governs how enemy soldiers and people will treat you.
- You can disarm enemies and use their own weapons against them this time.
- each weapon has a special move.
- 16 unique mission types.
- No more ease dropping or pick pocketing missions.
- If you get beat up to much you will need to see a street side doctor to regain ful strength.
- Hidden objects (like flags in the first one) are there to uncover but this time if you track them down you will get in-game bonuses that make it worth your time.
- Items include, flags, statues, and gold coins and more that isnt mentioned.
- New enemy types with unique attitudes and weaknesses are present in the game. Archers are mentioned, as well as elite enemies, dagger wielders, "Brutish" armored troops with heavy armor and 2 handed swords and axes, and an intelligent halberd enemy will probe hiding places with their weapons if they think you're near by.
- While hiding in a hay bail you can assassinate people this time, but it may expose your position.
- You can still climb towers and ride horses
- The Lorendo de Medici assassination is in the game.
- There is now a night and day sequence in the game.
- 240 people are working on this title.

Seems juicy! We'll be reporting as this goes further down the line.

Updates need to go in here it seems :D It's only been a number of months since anything appeared here. So I've organized some stuff. Firstly, today (22nd) is Biohazard's 13th Birthday. I haven't uploaded any new content for today, but coming sometime in the next few weeks will be a new voice actor I/V, a competition to win one of a few copies of the Resident Evil 5 Collectors Edition guidebook, and a few other surprises. Additionally I'll be updating the affiliates listing and adding in some new ones. If you are wanting to apply for an affiliate position please e-mail me at rombienz at hotmail.com as my ResidentEvilFan.com address is currently playing up. Please put "Affiliate Request" in the title. Stay tuned for more!

Oh, finally... our friends over at The Horror Is Alive have once again invited me along to take part in their RPD Dispatch Podcast, this time covering RE5. I join in around the time of RE5 discussion as I was late arriving for the record. It can be found right here. Clocking in at around 3 hours, its a lot to listen to. But timecodes of particular sections are noted in the link above. Clearly it has spoilers, so don't listen if you haven't finished, but do check it out as we cover just about every aspect including what we expect/want to see in the next major title.

Some of you scouring the net a number of weeks back may have come across a mobile game for the recently released Resident Evil CG movie, Resident Evil Degeneration, was being mentioned online. Indeed it appears Capcom has commissioned a game in the vein of Resident Evil 4 to be available to the N-Gage supported mobile platform just prior to Christmas.

The official press release states the following:

RESIDENT EVIL DEGENERATION launches on N-Gage

The most famous survival horror series of all time, Resident Evil, is returning to handheld on N-Gage. Join series heroes Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in RESIDENT EVIL DEGENERATION (based on the Sony Pictures CGI film) and battle to contain an outbreak of the infamous T-virus at a major US airport.

Developed on N-Gage, the game features multiple play modes and missions, bringing the full terror of the console series to mobile. Play separate missions for money in Mercenary mode or challenge yourself to play with less bullets and harder enemies as a Professional. How do you measure up? Compare your scores with other Resident Evil fans on the N-Gage Arena forums and leader boards.

N-Gage will be premiering RESIDENT EVIL DEGENERATION - play it here first.

US, July 25, 2008 - Today at the San Diego Comic Con, fans were treated to the first footage from the Capcom / Sony Pictures Entertainment collaboration, Resident Evil: Degeneration. Making its theatrical debut this fall in Japan and coming to DVD and Blu-ray in North America later in 2008, this spectacular, all-CGI animated feature takes the zombie action to a whole new level with its ground-breaking visual effects and thrilling new storyline.

The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City ended with a missile attack ordered by the government intended to wipe out the deadly zombie virus. Following this catastrophe, the Umbrella Corporation's stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution. Seven years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States, on an ordinary autumn afternoon, a zombie is unleashed. Now, in an airport beginning to fill with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to repeat itself... Claire Redfield, now a member of an NGO supporting victims of bioterrorism and medical disasters, happens to be in the airport while Leon S. Kennedy comes to the site on a mission to take care of the incident.

Paul Mercier and Alyson Court reprise their roles as Leona and Claire, respectively. For more information, stay tuned to IGN DVD and check out our coverage of the Resident Evil: Degeneration panel later today!

Unfortunately I've been a couple of days late to the party, but RE5 news has exploded across the net from Capcom's Captivate event. Footage hit the web over the weekend thanks to GameTrailers and since then the embargo has lifted providing countless screens, video interviews, and new official sites.

The official site is interesting, aside from providing videos and the usual images, for some unknown reasons Capcom has added wallpapers which have development notes all over them. They've indicated this is intentional, but it does also potentially reveal the new female characters name as well as the existence of another character.

Here's a quick run down on how to get all of the info out there:

GameSpy
GameTrailers Official Trailer via GTTV
GameTrailers Pop Up Trivia Edition
GameTrailers Producer Interview

IGN Video Interview

Kotaku - Impressions
Kotaku - Producer Re: Racist Criticism

A number of these are worth checking out, especially the trailer of course and the pop up trivia edition as well at GameTrailers. The two video interviews are worth watching too... GameTrailer's is better produced and better overall questions are asked, however the GameSpot edition probes a little into the links between this and previous titles in the series and you get some interesting answers.

Additionally while preview wise all the content is descriptions of the same playable displayed to the press, it's worth reading Kotaku's discussions with producer Jun Takeuchi about the critical comments about racism portrayed in the earlier trailer and their impact as well.

Most importantly Takeuchi has also stressed in most of the interviews that new stuff will be coming to E3 (in just over a month), including a surprising new addition which they haven't yet discussed, and a further character which apparently will surprise people.

Finally, if this isn't enough or you can't be bothered scouring all the sites for all the details, our friends at The Horror Is Alive have posted a general summary of all the important details on their news page from all the sites giving an overall view of this event. Cheers to DotCal for doing this so I might cheekily link to it.

X360, a leading XBox 360 magazine based in the UK, received exclusive content from the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Chief among these were the first new confirmations of playable characters that exist in the game since its announcement back during Gamer's Day. A representative from each side was revealed; Sonya and Flash!

In addition to being the cover story for the magazine, it was featured in a large layout in the interior along with several in game screenshots. Among these images are Superman using his heat vision special against Scorpion, Scorpion using his teleport punch against Batman, Flash using a speed dash against Sonya as well as a number of combat scenes. Within the text of the article elements such as the effects of Superman's cold breath special are discussed.

For copyright reasons, we cannot host the images nor can we allow users to do so. Please keep in mind that requesting where to find the images on the forums is also not allowed. When and if Midway releases some of these images, they will be promptly added to the front page.
